Age beyond the minimum doesn't matter when you want a license- first you need a learner's permit. Read the driving summary. Go back to the DMV office and pick one up. After you study that little book so you know how to obey traffic laws. You cannot pass the written test unless you know all that. A license is not a birthday present. You have to prove you can drive safely in traffic. The time you must hold the permit before you can test for a license is best spent practicing driving in traffic while getting expert at obeying traffic laws. If you break any law during the driving test, that will instantly fail you. Since you didn't mention taking a written test, I believe you do not yet have a driving permit. So my girlfriends car is pretty messed up, first, her muffler cracked, then shortly after/before her brakes BARELY work. I change my own pads/rotors and do so for other so I know a little bit about brakes. I checked the brake fluid and its full. I did some further investigation and I squeezed the brake hose on each of the two front tires while my girlfriend pumped the brakes. The carburetor uses a low-speed and high-speed set screw that you can adjust fairly easily with just a screwdriver. The high-speed set screw includes a "T" on the end, allowing you to adjust the screw by hand. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Locate the idle set screw at the very bottom of the Tillotson carburetor. Turn it clockwise with a screwdriver until you completely close it without over-tightening the screw. 2 Find the low-speed adjustment screw with the "L" next to it on the carburetor body. Turn the low-speed screw all the way clockwise and back it out counterclockwise one and a half turns. 3 Locate the high-speed adjustment screw with the "H" on the body. Turn the high-speed screw all the way clockwise and back it off counterclockwise three-quarters of a turn. 4 Start the motor and let it warm up for a few minutes. If the engine is having trouble starting, adjust the low-speed screw just a bit to get it started. 5 Turn the low-speed screw until you can hear the motor slow down. Adjust the screw as slow as you can get the engine to run without stalling out. 6 Open the carburetor throttle all the way and adjust the high-speed screw as high as it will go while still running smoothly. Turn the high-speed screw back one-eighth and shut off the engine. Start the engine and let it warm up for about five minutes. 3 Remove the rubber vacuum hose from the base of the carburetor and attach a vacuum gauge to the vacuum port at the base. Start with the idle fuel mixture screw on the left side of the carburetor, looking at it from the front of the vehicle and turn the screw a quarter turn. 4 Turn the idle speed screw on the right side a quarter turn and alternate back and forth, adjusting the screws until you get the highest rpm readings possible on the vacuum gauge with the engine running smoothly. Continue the adjustments, alternating between them until both are reading the same rpm while running smoothly. 5 Adjust both screws one final time by turning them a quarter turn counterclockwise and verify that both are reading the same rpm. Remove the vacuum gauge and reattach the rubber vacuum hose to the vacuum port. Shut the engine off.
